Celestún

Flamingos, Mangroves & the Gulf Coast

About 1½ hours from Sac Chich, Celestún is a laid-back fishing village on the Gulf Coast and home to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve. Boat trips through the mangroves offer the chance to see flamingos and abundant birdlife, with time to explore the coast and enjoy fresh seafood in town.

Izamal

The Yellow City

Just 30 minutes from Sac Chich, Izamal is one of Yucatán’s most distinctive towns. Nearly every building in the historic center is painted a warm golden yellow, surrounding the enormous Franciscan convent and ancient Maya pyramids. Wander the quiet cobblestone streets, browse local crafts, and enjoy the relaxed pace of this beautiful colonial town.

Hacienda Yaxcopoil

A Glimpse into Yucatán’s Henequén Past

One of the region's best-preserved historic haciendas, Yaxcopoil offers a fascinating look at Yucatán's henequén era. The property retains much of its historic character, from the main house to the old machinery and expansive grounds.

Campeche

Colonial Charm on the Gulf

About two hours from Sac Chich, Campeche is a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its beautifully restored historic center and colorful colonial architecture. Walk the old fortified city, explore its plazas and waterfront, and stay for sunset along the malecón.
