First Place — International
In 2011, Casa Sisal was selected as the first-place winner of the CEMEX International Building Awards, receiving the award for both the Mexican and international categories in Single Family Housing.
Designed by Mexican architect Salvador Reyes Ríos and Josefina Larrain, Casa Sisal was recognized for its innovative use of concrete, architectural design, environmental considerations, and execution.
Today, Casa Sisal remains one of the defining architectural elements of Hacienda Sac Chich, set within the original henequen drying fields.
