Planning a celebration in Mexico comes with a lot of questions. Here are some of the things couples and event hosts most often want to know about celebrating at Hacienda Sac Chich.

About the Hacienda

How many guests can Hacienda Sac Chich accommodate?

Hacienda Sac Chich can accommodate events of up to 200 guests. The hacienda can sleep up to 21 overnight guests across its three houses, making it ideal for intimate weddings, weekend celebrations and multi-day gatherings.

Will we have exclusive use of the hacienda?

Yes. When you book Hacienda Sac Chich for your event, the property is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. You and your guests can enjoy the gardens, pools, houses and event spaces without sharing the property with another group or event.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes. During high season weekends, from October through April, we require a three-night minimum stay. During the rest of the year, the minimum stay is two nights.

We encourage multi-day celebrations because there is so much more to a hacienda wedding than the wedding itself. A longer stay gives you time to settle in, spend time with your guests and enjoy the property and the Yucatán together.

How far is Hacienda Sac Chich from Mérida?

The hacienda is approximately 30 minutes from Mérida, making it easy for guests to enjoy the city while still feeling completely immersed in the jungle.

Mérida's international airport is also conveniently located for guests traveling from Mexico, the United States and beyond.

Planning Your Event

Do you offer wedding packages?

We don't offer traditional all-inclusive wedding packages. Instead, we give you the flexibility to create an event that feels completely personal to you.

You can choose your own wedding planner, caterer, florist, photographer, entertainment and other vendors, allowing you to build the celebration around your style, priorities and budget.

Do we need a wedding planner?

Yes, working with a professional wedding planner is required. We are happy to recommend trusted local planners who have worked on many weddings and events at Hacienda Sac Chich and know the property, our team and the logistics of working here firsthand.

Of course, you are welcome to choose your own planner as well. We simply find that working with someone who already knows Sac Chich can make the planning process much smoother and help everything run seamlessly on the day of your event.

Can we bring our own vendors?

Absolutely. You are welcome to work with the vendors who best fit your vision. We are also happy to recommend trusted local vendors who have worked at Hacienda Sac Chich many times and are familiar with the property, our spaces and the way events work here.

While you are never limited to our recommendations, choosing vendors who already know Sac Chich can make a big difference when it comes to setup, timing and logistics, allowing your planner and vendors to work efficiently with our on-site team.

Can we bring our own chef or catering team?

Yes. All events at Hacienda Sac Chich must have their own professional catering team. Your wedding planner can help you select and coordinate a caterer, and we are also happy to recommend trusted local caterers who are familiar with the hacienda and have worked here before.

For meals during your stay, guests staying at the hacienda can enjoy incredible food prepared by our in-house team, or choose to prepare meals themselves using the hacienda's kitchens. Outside chefs are not permitted to prepare meals for overnight guests during their stay.

Can we host events in addition to the wedding?

Absolutely. One of the advantages of celebrating at Hacienda Sac Chich is having the property for several days. Welcome dinners, rehearsal dinners, pool parties, farewell breakfasts, casual lunches and other gatherings can all become part of your weekend.

Additional events that include guests who are not staying at the hacienda may incur a small additional fee and must be discussed and approved in advance. Your wedding planner can help you create a schedule that makes the most of the property and your time together while coordinating any additional guest arrangements with our team.

What time does the event need to end?

Our standard event cutoff is 2:00 AM. Events continuing until 3:00 AM may be possible for an additional fee.

Your planner will work with our team to make sure the event timeline and music schedule are planned accordingly.

Food & Hospitality

Does Hacienda Sac Chich have a restaurant?

Hacienda Sac Chich is a private hacienda, not a traditional hotel or restaurant. Instead, the property gives you the flexibility to enjoy meals in a relaxed, private setting throughout your stay.

For an additional fee, our in-house cooks can prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners for overnight guests. Meals can be enjoyed by the pool, beneath the palms or in one of the hacienda's beautiful dining spaces. Guests are also welcome to prepare their own meals using the hacienda's kitchens at no additional charge.

Can we bring an outside chef for our stay?

Generally, no. Meals for overnight guests are prepared by our in-house cooking team, available for an additional fee, or guests are welcome to prepare their own meals in the hacienda's kitchens.

In rare circumstances, exceptions may be possible and must be discussed and approved with us in advance. For events, a professional outside catering team is required and can be coordinated through your wedding planner.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes. For events, you are welcome to bring your own alcohol, as Hacienda Sac Chich does not supply alcohol for events. Your wedding planner can help coordinate the bar service and other details with your chosen catering team.

For meals and gatherings during your stay, we have a limited selection of alcoholic beverages available for an additional fee. Details can be discussed with our team in advance.

Your Guests

Where can our guests stay?

Hacienda Sac Chich can accommodate up to 21 overnight guests across Casa de Máquinas, Casa Sisal and Casita Caliza.

For larger weddings and events, additional guests can stay at nearby hotels and vacation rentals. Mérida is approximately 30 minutes from the hacienda, with a wide range of accommodation options to suit different group sizes and budgets. Your wedding planner can also assist with coordinating accommodations and transportation for your guests.

How do guests get to the hacienda?

Most wedding groups arrange transportation for their guests between Mérida, the airport and the hacienda. Your wedding planner or transportation company can coordinate group transfers, shuttles and individual transportation. We can help arrange for those staying at Sac Chich.

What can our guests do while they're in Yucatán?

There is plenty to explore beyond the hacienda. Guests can spend time in Mérida, visit nearby cenotes and archaeological sites, explore charming Yucatecan towns or simply stay at the hacienda and enjoy a slower pace.

We are happy to help point you toward local experiences and activities that work well for your group.

Weather & The Event Experience

What happens if it rains?

Rain is relatively uncommon during our high season from October through April, when most weddings take place. That said, your wedding planner will work with you to have a simple backup plan in place, just in case the weather decides to surprise us.

The Loggia provides a beautiful covered space that can be used if needed, allowing the celebration to continue comfortably through a passing shower.

Can we have music, a DJ or live band?

Yes. Music and entertainment are welcome! Your planner will coordinate with your entertainment team regarding setup, sound and the event schedule.

Is Hacienda Sac Chich LGBTQ+ friendly?

Absolutely. We welcome all couples and are committed to creating a warm, respectful and inclusive experience for everyone celebrating at Hacienda Sac Chich.

What makes Hacienda Sac Chich different from a traditional wedding venue?

Hacienda Sac Chich isn't a hotel ballroom or a traditional wedding venue. It is a private historic hacienda where you and your guests can spend several days together, celebrate in beautiful outdoor spaces and create an experience that feels personal rather than packaged.

From a long lunch under the palms to a poolside afternoon, a candlelit dinner or a late-night celebration beneath the Yucatecan sky, the property gives you room to make the weekend your own.

How can we make our celebration extra special?

The best celebrations often take advantage of the fact that you have the entire property for several days.

Consider a welcome dinner for everyone arriving, a relaxed pool afternoon, a mezcal tasting, a private yoga session, a farewell breakfast or an excursion into Yucatán with your guests. You can also use the different spaces around the hacienda to give each part of the weekend its own atmosphere.

The goal isn't simply to have a beautiful wedding day. It's to create a memorable experience that you and your guests will remember long after you leave.
