Casa de Maquinas

Old world charm restored for luxury stays

Tucked away on the lush grounds of Hacienda Sac Chich, Casa de Maquinas is a complex of 3 limestone buildings: Casa Vieja, Casa Nueva and the Loggia.

Surrounded by palm-filled gardens Casa de Maquina’s three 2000 square foot rectangular structures date back to 1850. Throughout the hacienda, there is evidence of its previous utilitarian life. Iron wheels and massive beams are remnants of its past. The original water tower is now transformed into a modern bathroom, the dramatic 85 foot chimney rises above the property.

Casa Vieja

Casa Vieja features the main living room, a traditional colonial kitchen, two full bathrooms, and two King bedrooms. One of the King bedrooms also includes a loft space with an additional Queen and Single bed, making it ideal for families or small groups. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable stay.

Both bedrooms and the main bathroom of Casa Vieja open directly onto the gardens and pool area through beautiful colonial-style doors. Originally the hacienda’s historic water tank, the freshwater pool has been transformed into a shimmering retreat from the Yucatán heat. A steel and bamboo pergola, along with a shallow playita featuring a hammock suspended above the water, creates peaceful spaces for shade, rest, and relaxation.

The colonial kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need to cook during your stay, including an outdoor charcoal BBQ. The spacious and airy living room features a full stereo system with speakers throughout both houses and outdoor spaces, allowing music to flow seamlessly across the property. You’ll also find a collection of games, books, and even a few musical instruments to enjoy during your time at the Hacienda.
