Casa de Maquinas

A private hacienda retreat surrounded by history, gardens and Yucatecan nature.

A Hacienda All Your Own

Tucked into the gardens of Hacienda Sac Chich, Casa de Maquinas is a private retreat made up of three distinctive spaces: Casa Vieja, Casa Nueva and the open-air Loggia.

Historic limestone architecture, tropical gardens, reflecting ponds and a freshwater pool create a place designed for slow mornings, long meals and time together. With five bedrooms and a loft, Casa de Maquinas accommodates up to 13 guests.

Casa de Maquinas is designed for days that don't need much of a plan. Swim in the freshwater pool, linger over breakfast in the Loggia, disappear into a hammock with a book, or gather for drinks as the gardens come alive after sunset.

The three spaces give everyone room to be together and room to retreat, making the house an ideal setting for families, groups of friends, retreats and intimate celebrations.

More Than a Place to Stay

Three Spaces. One Private Retreat.

Casa Vieja
The historic heart of the Casa de Maquinas

Casa Nueva
Contemporary architecture within the hacienda

The Loggia
The social heart of Casa de Maquinas

Casa Vieja
The Original Heart of Casa de Maquinas

Casa Vieja retains the charm and character of a traditional Yucatecan hacienda. Two King bedrooms, a loft, colonial kitchen and generous living room surround a lush palm-filled garden and a beautiful 40-foot freshwater pool — a natural gathering place for long afternoons in the sun or a refreshing swim after a day exploring Yucatán.

The original water tower has been transformed into a private bathroom, while antique hacienda doors, massive wooden beams and traditional details throughout the house preserve its connection to the property's history.

Casa Nueva
A Contemporary Contrast
to Casa Vieja

Across the gardens, Casa Nueva offers a striking contemporary counterpoint to the historic Casa Vieja. Three spacious bedrooms are arranged along a dramatic central passageway, with soaring 26-foot ceilings, 13-foot hacienda doors and private gardens opening onto the surrounding landscape.

The expansive Primary Suite includes a sunken sitting area, private garden, plunge pool and outdoor soaking tub.

The Loggia
Where Everyone Comes Together

Connecting Casa Vieja and Casa Nueva, the Loggia is the social heart of Casa de Maquinas.

Have breakfast beside the lily ponds, gather around the dining table for a long lunch, settle into the sofas in the afternoon, or meet here for drinks after sunset. Above it all, the rooftop lounge and star-viewing platform offer a place to watch sunsets, moonrises and the night sky beneath the Yucatán sky.

A Day at Casa de Maquinas

Start slowly.

Coffee in the Loggia, breakfast beneath the palms, and a morning swim in the 40-foot freshwater pool. There's nowhere you need to be and no reason to rush.

Long lunches turn into lazy afternoons by the pool. Read in the shade, cool off in the water, take a siesta in the hammock, or head out to explore Yucatán.

Meet in the Loggia for drinks as the gardens begin to cool. Dinner stretches into the evening, followed by time beneath the stars on the rooftop.

A House With a Story

Casa de Maquinas dates to around 1850, when these buildings formed part of Sac Chich's working henequen hacienda. Traces of that history remain throughout the property, from massive wooden beams and iron machinery to the original water tower and the dramatic 85-foot chimney rising above the gardens.
